Just Brass is a program organised by the Salvation Army Ingle Farm to make musical tuition on brass instruments available to kids.
The program provides music tuition, instruction books and instruments available at no cost to the children, parents or school, and is available to children in Years 4 to 7. Children at North Ingle School are given a half hour music lesson on a Tuesday in groups of 2 or 3 during school hours and are required to attend a band practice at the Salvation Army Ingle Farm on Thursdays after school. Here they have a small snack and then play in one of two bands with other Just Brass kids from two other local schools.
The band practice runs from 3.30pm to 4.15pm at the Salvation Army - Ingle Farm and the children can be picked up from there or returned to school by the Salvation Army bus about 4.25pm. Transport to and from band practice is provided. Parents are required to be there on time to pick up their children from the school.
Children are expected to practise regularly and to attend a once per term concert featuring the Just Brass bands and items by the children so parents and friends can see the children perform and grow in confidence and ability.
Just Brass values Participation, Potential, Persistence and Partnerships.
The staff of Just Brass work in collaboration with the North Ingle School community.
Please contact Richelle Shanahan at the school on 8264 7498 to register your child.
